"Synodal School of Liturgical Music".
Registration for July 2022 is now Open

Registration is now open for the July 2022 Session of the Synodal School of Liturgical Music — July 17–30 at Novo Diveevo Convent in Nanuet, NY.
In the fall of 2021, the ROCOR Synod of Bishops blessed SSLM to remain at the Novo Diveevo Convent (Nanuet, NY). We extend our gratitude and love to Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, home to the school for 29 years, and hope to cooperate on various projects with Holy Trinity Seminary in the coming years. The Convent of Novo Diveevo is located at 100 Smith Rd., Nanuet, NY, 10954. Room/Board The current residential tuition rate of $1500 covers three meals daily onsite in the Convent’s large dining room, and simple accommodations in either a) Individual rooms (singles), with shared bathrooms/showers on the first floor of the former Novo Diveevo residence for senior citizens. The school will be providing linens. b) Double rooms (doubles), in the so-called “motel” on the territory of the convent. Each double is equipped with a bathroom/shower. Please note that there are a limited number of doubles so if you would like to share a room with someone please let us know as soon as possible. NB: Laundry facilities are available. Alternative housing will also be available at the Sonesta Simply Suites hotel in Nanuet, located a five- minute walk from the Convent territory, at a very reasonable rate (TBA). In that case SSLM will apply a credit of (TBA) from the cost of the program to the cost of the hotel stay, and ask that the student choosing to stay at the Sonesta Simply Suite cover the difference. Also please note that since this is a working monastic community, we will ask students to respect the privacy of the sisters and also to keep the noise levels down in the evenings after class/dinner. Commuter Option (See Tuition and Fees)
$950– includes full load of classes plus three meals a day.
$750 – includes full load of classes, without meals.
Contact us for pricing if you would like to commute without taking the full load of classes (price can be worked out depending on the number of classes plus meal plan, on an individual basis).
Online
For current SSLM online offerings please see here. Please note that all Typicon II and Typicon III students are expected to complete the online portion of the class prior to arrival at Novo Diveevo.
Transportation Being in the New York metropolitan area, Novo Diveevo is easily accessible from the major international airports (JFK, La Guardia, Newark) and local train stations (see train schedule to Nanuet). You may also take the MetroNorth train to Tarrytown - in that case please let us know time of arrival so we can arrange pickup. Train schedule to Nanuet, New York. Arrival and Departure Details Check-in will begin Saturday evening July 16 and continue throughout the day on Sunday, July 17. The session will formally open with a molieben on the afternoon of Sunday, July 17, at the main church of the Convent, followed by an opening introductory session, which will be followed by placement exams for music theory and sight singing. Dinner will be served that evening to all participants. Classes will begin at 8 am sharp on Monday morning, July 18. Final exams will be held on the morning of Saturday, July 30, followed by lunch and a closing molieben and graduation ceremony, which should be completed approximately by 2 pm. Please plan your travel arrangements accordingly. COVID-19 Precautions The school abides by the laws and regulations of the State of New York regarding pandemic precautions. Currently masking and proof of vaccination are not required. We reserve the right to institute such precautions should NYS requirements change, but are hopeful that this year we will not have to do so, given the pandemic's apparent retreat.
